Really hard one this year as I've seen loads of crackers!

But something like

Buckcherry - Oxford Zodiac
Bullets and Octane - Notingham Rock City
Down - Download

With bubbling under

Metallica - Download
Skindred - Exeter Phoenix
Corrosion of Conformity/Clutch - Exeter Lemon Grove

I couldn't face seeing 'Thrax without Mr Bush.

Have been a fan since Spreading the Disease and just much prefered them with Bush. Saw them at Download and at the Fury Fest with the reformed line-up and was reminded just what a crap frontman Belladonna is. Great singer still though.

Somewhat agreed, Bush was great with the Thrax, However this show was purely in there for nostalgic reasons. I loved em Among The Living / State Of.. peroid when i was a nipper, and they were one of the first metal bands i saw when i was 11, so to see them with back with Belladonna, complete with his cries of 'Metal Tharashing what...??' "Maaaddddd" and his metal wrist bands was a joy...

errm..the 'small things' that make us smile eh? Rolling Eyes

Also, Opeth at Nottingham Rock City was a corker!!.. just need to pick up more of thier albums before i see them again!

Bush is a better live singer (saw the Saint back in June, very good) but Belladonna is the voice of Anthrax.

Top gigs:

Helloween
Nevermore (at Sweden Rock)
Maiden

I have to say, I saw him doing his acoustic show in London a couple of weeks ago, and he was really on top form. If he can just stop pissing away his backing bands (he's on what, his 4th now?), then hopefully we'll see a new studio album, and a proper electric tour.

Anyway, to get back on topic, my top 3 shows of 2006 were:

Battlelore at The Underworld
Epica at The Underworld
Doro at The Underworld

Bubbling under:

Evergrey at The Underworld
Edguy at The Astoria

Below that were a whole host of bands putting in strong performances, and overall, it was a pretty good year for live shows. Certainly far better than 2007 has been (so far, at least). Concert season is starting to get into full swing now, though, and I have many gigs lined up for the coming months, so who knows what the rest of the year will bring?
